The Allen County Circuit and Superior Courts are the top trial courts in Allen County and are a part of the Indiana state court system. In addition to the Circuit and Superior Court judges, magistrates and staff, a number of county departments help to make the court system function properly.

The Clerk of the Circuit and Superior Courts is a county elected official who serves as an officer of the court and the manager of court information. The Clerk administers the official court records for all trial court cases with jurisdiction in Allen County, prepares the permanent historical records for the courts, processes and issues various documents for court cases, and is responsible for nearly $90 million in financial transactions annually. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is a county elected official who oversees 100 attorneys, paralegals, investigators, administrators, security and support staff. The Prosecutor’s Office pursues justice on behalf of victims and the community in over 2000 felony cases; 10,000 misdemeanor cases and 30,000 infractions in Allen County each year. The Prosecutor’s Office also handles services such as Adult Protective Services, Bad Check Restitution, Title IV-D Child Support and Deferral programs.

The Public Defender’s Office provides effective and high quality legal representation to accused indigent people facing felony or misdemeanor charges, juvenile adjudication, and mental health commitments.
